Labor Doula Package- $1100.00

Free Consultation

Free "meet and greet" usually a  30-minute to 1 hour consultation where we will get to know one another, so you can make a decision whether or not to hire me. We will go over any initial questions you may have, discuss what you are looking for in your labor support, and explore how I can best meet your needs. Meeting can take place where you will feel most comfortable-your home, a coffee shop, etc.

Phone & Email Support

Unlimited prenatal support via email and phone from the moment you hire me.

On-Call 24/7 from the 2 weeks prior to your "guess date" or estimated due date until birth.

1-2 Prenatal Visits

I offer 1-2 prenatal visits to discuss your previous pregnancies and birth, birth options and philosophy, labor positions, pain and comfort preferences, and your birth goals/plan.

I can help you create a birth plan that you want.

You are also welcome to borrow any books from my personal little library.  A list of books I offer is soon to follow...

During labor

I will provide continuous support during labor and delivery.

During labor:

  • Suggest regular movement and positioning during labor

  • Hot and cold therapy

  • Water therapy (bath or shower)

  • Massage or counter-pressure to ease back labor

  • Emotional encouragement/support

  • Help to set and calm the mood of the room: lights, music

  • Encourage and instruct the partner on how to get involved

  • Affirmations and/or guided meditations for relaxation

  • Help you meet the goals laid out in your birth plan

  • Remind the birthing woman to eat, drink, or use the bathroom

  • Help interpret a doctor’s or midwife’s instructions and information for the woman

  • Carry out any comfort requests from the laboring woman

  • Protect the birthing space as an emotional and physical sanctuary

  • Take photos/video at your request (however, I am not a professional birth photographer)

  • Record a timeline of events for the birthing woman to remember later

Stay up to 2 hours after the birth to:

  • Help support the mother and newborn with following her birth plan

  • Help establish breastfeeding

  • Provide any other support for the family

Postpartum follow-up visit

One postpartum visit about 1-2 weeks after birth  (about 1-2 hours) to discuss birth, newborn care, postpartum recovery, help with breastfeeding/bottle feeding.

Instruction or information on normal newborn care and when to call the doctor.

As a Doula, I  Do Not:

A birth doula does not

  • Give medical opinions

  • Administer or handle medications

  • Perform clinical tasks like cervical checks or heart monitoring

  • Get between you and the support of your nurse or doctor or midwife or caregiver

  • Speak on your behalf, in any capacity

  • Get between you and your birth partner

  • Sleep at the birth

  • Take breaks, other than quick bathroom breaks, as outlined in the contract

  • Give psychological diagnosis or treatment

  • Talk about other caregivers or family members or doulas disparagingly

  • Push or advocate any particular way of birthing or parenting

  • Judge you or your parenting decisions

Speak to the staff on your behalf

I work for you. Not the Dr, midwife, nurse, or any hospital staff.  I will speak to the staff on your behalf only when you want me to. I will be your advocate when you need me.

How can a birth doula help your partner?

  • She can guide you in applying what you learned in childbirth classes.

  • She can take over for you so that you can get a meal, a quick nap, or make a few phone calls.  Or she can make those phone calls for you.

  • She can bring the mother beverages, hot packs, or ice, so that you do not have to leave her side to do so.

  • She can help you understand what the mother might be feeling as well as interpret the signs of labor progress to you.

  • She can help you to participate more comfortably if you are unsure of how to help.

  • She can teach you massage and relaxation techniques and trade off implementing them in a long or challenging labor.

  • She can take photos of the final moments of the birth so you can stay connected and not miss out on the most intimate moments of your child's birth.

Postpartum Care

Additional postpartum care is available for $35.00/hr daytime (3 hr min 8am to 5pm) and evening postpartum is $40.00/hr (3 hr min 5pm to 11pm)

  • Taking care of baby while mom rests/naps
